What is Firewall in network

Firewall keeps protection of the internet or computer from viruses, threats. In this article, I Explain what is Firewall in-network? Type of firewalls Network.

What is a Firewall in-network?

Firewalls are procedures for protecting a local system or network of systems from network-based security threats. At the same time accessing the outside world via wide-area networks and the internet. To build, these things help router, server, software. Actually, it is a system or group of a system that enforces an access control policy between two networks. These are important for Firewall.

The firewall helps to permit some traffic and block unwanted traffic.

  1. Service Control can access Inbound and Outbound links which determines the type of internet services. The Firewall may filter traffic on the basis of IP address and TCP port number. It provides proxy software that receives and interprets each service request before processing it.
  2. Direction Control controls the direction in which a particular service request may be initiated and also allow it to flow through the firewall.
  3. Data Control control access to service, according to which the user is attempting to access it. This feature perimeter for the user inside the firewall. This feature also may be applied for incoming external traffic which requires some authentication procedures.
  4. Behavior Control controls how particular services are use. For example, it may filter the emails to eliminate spam or it may enable access to only a portion of the information on a local webserver.

Classification of Firewalls Network

  • Application Gateways

These are known as proxy servers. This software runs at the Application Layer of the ISO Reference Model. This is most secure because they don’t allow any time to pass by default, but need to have the programs written and turned on in order to begin passing traffic.

  • Packet Filtering

Packet filtering is a technique whereby routers have ACLs(Access Control Lists) Turned on. By default, a router will pass all traffic sent it, and will do so without any sort of restrictions. Employing ACLs is a method for enforcing your security policy with regard to what sorts of access you allow the outside world to have to your internet network and vice versa.

  • Hybrid Systems

In an attempt to marry the security of the application layer gateways with the flexibility and speed of packet filtering, some vendors have created systems that use the principles of both. The application layer Approved some of that system which is new. After that, the remaining Connection is passed down to the session layer. Then the connection ensures that only packets approved.
